- OS2FONT.DOC - How to use OS2THIN.DCP to give OS/2 version 2.1
- a sharp look in full screen text modes.
-
- For OS/2 and OS/2-MDOS full screen sessions.
-
- OS2THIN.DCP replaces the standard full-screen text mode fonts with better-
- looking characters. Any full-screen, text mode application running under
- OS/2 will appear in the new, super-sharp font.
-
-
- Installation - for OS/2 2.1 only!
-
- 1) Copy the OS2THIN.DCP file to your OS/2 directory (typically d:\OS2,
- where "d:" is your OS\2 drive).
-
- 2) Use the system editor to change the line in your OS/2 CONFIG.SYS
-
- from> DEVINFO=SCR,VGA,d:\OS2\VIOTBL.DCP
-
- to> DEVINFO=SCR,VGA,d:\OS2\OS2THIN.DCP
-
- NOTE: use the correct drive & path for *your* OS/2 installation.
-
- 3) Make sure that the CODEPAGE line in your OS/2 CONFIG.SYS reads
-
- CODEPAGE=437,850 (for most U.S. users)
-
- (or) CODEPAGE=850,437 (for most international users)
-
- 4) Shutdown OS/2 and then reboot your system. After OS/2 loads, go to a full
- screen (MDOS or OS/2) session, then TYPE out the CHARS.TXT file to see
- the characters in the new active font. NOTE: a few control characters
- are omitted from CHARS.TXT (tab, return, Ctrl-Z, etc.); however,
- OS2THIN.DCP redefines ALL 256 characters.
-
- 5) If you wish, you can now switch between the various screen modes to
- view the three different character formats (OS/2 or DOS).
-
- MODE CO80,25 (8x16 character cells)
- MODE CO80,28 (8x14 character cells)
- MODE CO80,50 (8x8 character cells)
-
-
- Some notes about OS2THIN.DCP -
-
- 1) These fonts are for text mode only. All full screen text modes supported
- by OS/2 will use the new fonts. This includes emulated screen support
- under MDOS - I have tested it with WordPerfect, Norton Utilities, (etc.);
- but it should work for any DOS or OS/2 text mode application.
-
- 2) The standard US code page (437) and the most common international code
- page (850) are the only ones redefined in OS2THIN.DCP. Other code pages
- may be added if interest warrants. If you specify a codepage other than
- 437 or 850 you will get the default screen font for that codepage.
